Description from the seller

This is a rare antique SMF Schramberg ceramic sausage box from Germany with the inscription 'Heiße Würstchen'. Executed in a speckled light green/turquoise glaze with brown ribbed edges. This rare unique item is included in the Museum Digital Deutschland.

This hand-painted green porcelain box with lid was made by the oldest pottery factory Württemberg, the Schramberg Majolica Factory.

The 'SMF' mark on the bottom indicates a production period after 1912, the year in which the 'SMF' mark was introduced. Dating presumably 1920 - 1940.
The octagonal shape of the box is characterized by vertical ribs along the edges and the inscription ’Heiße Würstchen’ in elegant script. Wiener sausages serve as handles on the sides. The lid handle is also beautifully formed as a sausage, which clearly indicates that it is a sausage box.

Model number 1980. The item was used for storing and serving warm sausages.

The box with lid is in very good condition.

Sausages 1083 grams
Dimensions L x W x H: 24.1 x 14.6 x 14.2
