“Il Bardo” is an oil painting from the 19th century, created in the United Kingdom, signed, in good condition, framed, and measuring 107 × 87 cm with an accompanying certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
Provenance: private collection.
Framed dimensions: 92 x 72 cm
The work, with excellent artistic and chromatic rendering, presents itself in good conservation condition, with signs of aging visible in the photos. The painterly film is nonetheless well-adhered to the original support.
On analysis with a Wood lamp, the artist's signature appears autographic and contemporaneous with the creation of the painting.
The artwork boasts an auction history at a noted and prestigious Italian auction house, as visible in the photos.
The work is inspired by the eponymous 1757 poem by Thomas Gray: upon returning from the conquest of Wales, King Edward I and his army are cursed by a Welsh bard, who invoking the cultural and folkloric tradition of Wales predicts its final victory over England thanks to the future rise of the Tudor dynasty.
The frame shown in the photos above has been added to the artwork by the seller or a third party. The frame is provided at no additional cost so that it is ready to display as soon as it arrives. The frame is included as a courtesy and is not considered an integral part of the artwork. Therefore, any potential damage to the frame that does not affect the artwork itself will not be accepted as a valid reason to file a claim or request cancellation of the order.
Careful packaging and trackable shipping are guaranteed.
In-person pickup is available exclusively for buyers in the surrounding areas. Pickup by buyers' personal couriers is not accepted.
The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
