Description from the seller
Set of 2 Mid-Century Modern stools / ottomans – solid oak & brass details (c. 1960–1965)
Rare set of 2 identical Mid-Century Modern stools / ottomans, crafted in solid oak with original brass foot caps and high-quality upholstery.
The stools are characterized by their elegant architectural form, gently tapering legs, organic cutouts in the base, and superior finish. The design closely aligns with Dutch design tradition of the 1960s and strongly recalls the work of Fristho.
According to the previous owner, a former employee of Hilton Amsterdam, these stools originate from the hotel’s interior.
Along with the provenance there is also an old interior photo showing several identical pieces as part of a larger installation. Official documentation is absent, but the provenance supports the claimed hotel origin.
The combination of solid oak, brass details, exceptional build quality, and the fact that these stools were part of a larger series of nine identical pieces makes this a particularly attractive ensemble for collectors, architects, project designers, and enthusiasts of Dutch design.
