The Sony DT 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 SAM (SAL1855) is the standard APS-C kit zoom for the Sony A-mount system, covering a versatile wide-to-short-telephoto range. Its built-in SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) provides autofocus on all Sony/Minolta A-mount bodies, and it can be used with autofocus on Sony E-mount mirrorless via an LA-EA adapter. A light, practical everyday zoom.
Mount & Compatibility
This is a Sony A-mount autofocus lens with a built-in focus motor (SSM/SAM), so it autofocuses on all Sony/Minolta A-mount bodies, including those without an in-body AF motor.
Note: The Sony A mount is NOT the same as the current Sony E mount. On Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras it can be used with autofocus via a Sony LA-EA adapter (the built-in motor works even with the simple LA-EA3, and with LA-EA5 on supported bodies).
