For sale is a rare pair of decorative bookends made from solid dark ebony. These collectibles are carefully hand-carved and styled in the classic Art Deco fashion of the 1950s and 1960s.

Each bookend features an integrated secret compartment. It is exposed by sliding the book spine to the side – ideal for small treasures like gold, silver, or gemstones.

The elephant figures are adorned with light inlays, often made of bone or ivory. The delicate beadwork and high-quality workmanship make them a striking addition to any bookshelf. They also work well as decoration on a side table.
