Universal Genève Polerouter, reference 20363/3, produced 1956–1959, with automatic cal. 215 movement, stainless steel case plated in gold, 35 mm diameter, gold dial and leather strap, in discreet condition with notable signs of wear (no box or papers).
Description from the seller
The Polerouter is a model that cannot be missing in a collection of true watch enthusiasts. Universal Genève created the Polerouter to celebrate SAS’s polar flights. This model carries remarkable historical significance, both as one of the early designs by the legendary Gérald Genta, and for Universal Genève’s revolutionary automatic Microtor technology, which enabled thinner, more elegant, and modern cases.
Ref. 20363/3 holds a special place in this evolutionary line thanks to its "no date" configuration, produced in far smaller quantities than the date versions, and it has remained one of the iconic models of Universal Genève’s golden era. In confirmation of this, the Polerouter was relaunched by the revived maison Universal Genève as a flagship model for the new collections at the world watch fair Watches and Wonders.
Although not perfectly preserved, this specimen is in condition consistent with its age; the case appears to have been slightly polished, thus preserving the proportions and original character. The dial has developed a light tropical patina, which adds warmth and depth while remaining legible, clean, and balanced.
Year of production: 1956–1959
Case diameter: 35 mm
Case material: steel plated with gold
Crystal: plexiglass, in good condition
Original crown, but worn and detached (stem broken)
Movement: automatic cal. 215, functioning, the microrotor lightly touches the case back
Historical servicing: unknown
