Wooden plant stand from France, dating to the late 1960s, in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear, 72 cm deep, 61 cm high and 40 cm wide, with a central open harp-like structure and four tiers finished with red, cream and pale yellow Formica.
Description from the seller
Beautiful and highly graphic asymmetrical four-level mid-century plant stand, emblematic of the Mid-Century Modern / Rockabilly period (late 1960s).
This sought-after model is distinguished by its central openwork harp (or fan)-shaped structure in dark wood, adorned with two-tone spindles. It features a large organic-shaped lower shelf (bright red) and three upper satellite shelves (one red and two pale cream/yellow). Each shelf is covered with its original Formica and outlined by an elegant golden trim typical of the era. The three spindle/compass legs are detachable, greatly facilitating transport.
Overall condition & restoration notes:
The overall aesthetics and the visible faces of the piece are in very good condition with superb color brilliance and Formica shine (see photos).
However, the piece requires small, typical restorations for this type of item:
- The fittings attaching the feet to the lower shelf have some play and should be re-glued/reinforced to ensure perfect stability.
- Traces of old moisture from plant watering are visible on the reverse side (the bottom) of the shelves, with no major impact on strength or visual appearance once the piece is stood up.
Ideal for collectors of atomic design or indoor plant enthusiasts looking to stage succulents, cacti, or trailing plants.
