Description from the seller
Antique Roll-Top Filing Cabinet - Early 1900s
Refined and functional office or archive piece with a vertical roll-top, made of solid oak, dating from the early years of the 20th century (early 1900s) with proven Lombard craftsmanship and origin.
The structure stands out for its solid and essential lines, topped by a distinctive open upper section with curved sliding side panels, ideal as a resting or display surface. The front is entirely occupied by a large wooden roll-top shutter that moves smoothly along the side guides; the upper rail of the roll-top is fitted with its central brass lock housing and two period-through brass handles, placed symmetrically to facilitate opening and closing of the compartment. The interior of the piece, accessible by fully retracting the roll-top into the base, is rationally organized into two vertically symmetric compartments divided by a central septum, each of which houses sturdy shelves suitable for storing file folders, books, or objects.
