Ecce Homo, an oil on canvas religious painting from Italy in a Baroque-inspired sacred realism style, dating to 1940–1950 (1942 noted), signed lower right, with a gilded wooden frame included.
Description from the seller
Fascinating and intense portrayal with small defects visible in the photo on canvas and frame, of the Ecce Homo, a classical subject of Christian iconography depicting Jesus Christ during the Passion, crowned with thorns. The work is executed with an oil technique that favors warm tones and browns, creating a strong chiaroscural contrast that emphasizes the pathos of the face and the depth of the gaze directed upward.
In the bottom, the work bears the inscription in elegant Gothic characters "Ecce Homo", which lends the painting a solemn and devotional character.
