Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan composes a double exhibition full of gentleness. A young girl, seen from behind in a blue padded jacket dotted with patches — hot springs, mandarins, a saké bottle, bowls — watches her garment transform into a Japanese winter resort village under the snow. An entire winter onsen unfolds: wooden inns with amber lanterns, snowy staircases, vermilion torii, and, nestled in the steaming pools, Japanese macaques (the famous “snow monkeys”) lounging about. This single splatter invites a dialogue between the present and the Japanese imagination.
The visual impact of the composition lies in its generous painterly treatment, with impasto reminiscent of oil painting, and in the subtle fusion between the contemporary silhouette and the miniature landscape that springs from it. The spirals of steam, the glowing lanterns, and the stylized Hokusai-like waves edging the bottom of the canvas anchor the scene in an enveloping winter atmosphere.
The work’s impact rests on this warm contrast: the harshness of cold and snow against the comforting tranquility of the hot bath, an emblematic ritual of Japanese culture. The snow monkeys, peaceful in the steaming water, embody a way of life built on slowness and well-being — a timeless interlude literally carried by the traveler.
A poetic piece, warm and finely narrative, ideal for bringing a soothing, transportive, and decidedly contemporary touch to a design interior or a collector’s space.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists brought together around a living and plural contemporary creation. Installed like a true art-production space, the workshop operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and followed within the workshop, with a shared artistic standard and each artist’s own identity.
