Description from the seller

This Beetle is being auctioned without a reserve!
That means the highest bidder will become the owner of this magnificent vehicle!

GENERAL
Offered: a charming 1973 Volkswagen Beetle 1303 with a particularly nice history.
This Beetle has been owned by the same owner from 1990 until 2026. After more than 35 years of ownership, the previous owner had to sell the car for health reasons. During this long period, the car has been maintained with much love and attention, but in recent years it became increasingly difficult for the owner.
In the nineties the owner personally carried out a thorough restoration of the car. The body was removed from the chassis and the Beetle was restored body-off. The paintwork was outsourced at the time.

Also a rebuilt 1600 cc engine was installed, which gives the car not only a well-kept appearance but also pleasurable driving characteristics.
An honest and sympathetic classic with a story, ready to be cherished by a new enthusiast.

BODYWORK & PAINT
The body presents neatly and shows that the car was restored with care in the past. The body-off restoration from the nineties ensured that this Beetle has remained well-preserved for many years.
Time has obviously left its marks, and there are signs of use and aging in various places. This is fitting for a classic over fifty years old that has actually been used and enjoyed. These points are honestly documented in the photos so interested parties can form a good impression of the current condition.
Despite these cosmetic imperfections, the car maintains an attractive look and exudes exactly the charm that makes a classic Beetle so beloved.

TECHNICAL
During the restoration in the nineties, a rebuilt 1600 cc boxer engine was installed. This engine provides pleasant performance and fits perfectly with the character of the Volkswagen Beetle.
The engine starts smoothly, runs nicely, and the car drives especially well. The well-known "start-and-run" character is still present and makes every ride carefree and enjoyable.
Recently the car has undergone an MOT inspection as well. Among other things, the brakes were thoroughly serviced. The MOT is valid until December 11, 2027.
For the Netherlands, this also means the last mandatory MOT inspection, as vehicles of this age are exempt from periodic inspection from that moment on. Of course, different regulations and inspection requirements may apply in other countries.

INTERIOR
The interior is in very well-kept condition and harmonizes nicely with the car’s character.
The upholstery, dashboard and other interior details are neat and create a pleasant classic ambiance. The interior reflects the care with which the car has been treated for many years.
Together with the comfortable driving characteristics, this invites you to take it out on the road.

DOCUMENTS

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
