Description from the seller
Elegant Catholic liturgical chalice in silvered and gold-plated metal, made in the second half of the 20th century, approximately between the 1950s and 1980s.
The piece features a sober and balanced line, typical of post-war ecclesiastical production, characterized by essential shapes designed to combine liturgical functionality with formal elegance. The cup, entirely gilded inside and on the upper outer part, reflects the centuries-old tradition of sacred vessels intended for the Eucharistic celebration. The contrast with the silvered body gives the whole object a remarkable chromatic harmony.
The slender stem is adorned with a turned central knot, while the wide flared base bears a refined engraving depicting a radiant cross, symbol of divine light and the presence of Christ. This decorative element, discreet yet meaningful, gives the object a strong spiritual and liturgical identity.
The structure is made according to the traditional techniques of the era and features the typical mechanical assembly with a central pin that allowed disassembly of the various elements for maintenance and cleaning. An interesting example of sacred craftsmanship of the twentieth century, ideal for religious-art collectors, scholars of liturgy, or to be restored to service at the altar.
Weight: 210 g.
Dimensions: Height: 17 cm Cup diameter: 7 cm Base diameter: 10 cm
Condition: very good. Normal authentic signs of time and use compatible with the age of the object are present. There are slight oxidations on the reverse of the base and minor gilding wear, details that testify to the history and actual liturgical use of the piece. Stable structure and perfectly preserved.
Our interior designer architect recommends: an object like this finds its perfect place within a sacred art collection, in a prestigious library, or in a classical setting where historic liturgical objects can dialogue with antique and contemporary furnishings, creating an atmosphere of strong character and spirituality.
