Antique Louis XVI-inspired wooden high table from France, dating to 1930–1940, with 55 cm depth, 55 cm width and 67 cm height, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
It is a high table that faithfully captures the spirit of Louis XVI reinterpreted in the first half of the 20th century, when many workshops still resorted to that Neoclassical language for its sober elegance and its ability to ennoble any room. The piece is supported by a slender, vertical silhouette that conveys lightness without losing firmness, as if it wished to elevate the tabletop and present it almost as a small domestic altar.
The wood — light, well polished, with a restrained shine — accentuates that refined vocation. The legs, straight and slightly fluted, evoke the grooved columns of the classical repertoire, with that geometric precision that characterizes Louis XVI style. They do not seek to attract attention through exuberance, but through proportion and balance. The tabletop, with clean lines, is finished with a discreet edge that frames the surface and reinforces the sense of a well-cared-for piece, designed to showcase a vase, a lamp, or a special object.
There is in the whole a very distinctive mix typical of the first third of the 20th century: respect for Neoclassical tradition, taste for symmetry and formal clarity, and at the same time a certain refinement that announces more modern sensibilities. It is a table that does not seek to impose itself, but to add a touch of serene distinction, of those pieces of furniture that elevate the atmosphere without raising its voice.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
