The vintage bellows camera pictured is the classic Kodak Retina 35mm model, famous for introducing the standard film cartridge used in modern photography. This specimen features a horizontally folding design, protected by a front hinged cover branded Kodak on the inner metal surface. The camera is equipped with a Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar f/3.5 lens with a focal length of five centimeters, noted for its excellent contrast rendering. The lens is paired with a Compur-rapid central shutter with speeds up to 1/500 second, in addition to the classic manual settings. Along with the camera, the original rigid brown leather case is included, with the Kodak Retina model name embossed on the front. This lot represents a fundamental collectible piece for tracing the history of pocket photography in the twentieth century. The overall aesthetic condition is very good, with the body’s black finish intact and the engravings on the optical group clearly defined and legible.
