Description from the seller

The lot contains photos and brochures from a trip that the Belgian clothing retailer Jules Marlier (1905-1993) undertook in 1954 with his seven-year-old son Daniel (1947-2022). It took him commercially to Striwa GmbH in Lichtenfels in Upper Franconia and to visits in Upper Bavaria and Austria. The travel route and dates are unknown in detail.

The lot comes from Daniel’s estate. He mentioned the trip to the seller several times, as it was, for the little boy at the time, naturally an experience. It was found as a whole in the folder included in the lot, during the settlement of the estate. All parts are in very good condition apart from signs of use. All major defects are listed below.

The lot consists in detail of the following parts:

Lichtenfels:

- 1 trade and customer magazine "Striwa Post" 1/1953 from Striwa GmbH, Lichtenfels: 7 pages, several black-and-white photos and illustrations. Slight signs of wear, folded twice, a larger tear.
- 1 church guide to the pilgrimage church of Vierzehnheiligen, in a protective cover, 47 pages, 4 pages of text, the rest black-and-white photos; Verlag Karl Robert Langewiesche, Königstein im Taunus, without year. Slight signs of wear.

Salzburg:

- 1 flyer, 12 pages, elaborately illustrated with 8 black-and-white photos, texts in German, English, French and Italian.
- 1 city map with main sights and restaurant recommendations.
- 1 set of 12 black-and-white photos (9x7 cm) in an envelope with various motifs from Salzburg.

Linz:

- 1 flyer, 16 pages, with nice illustrations, in French. Edges lightly torn.
- 1 folded city map, in French.
- 1 travel guide with Text on the most important sights, including in the surroundings, 16 black-and-white photos, fold-out city map, numerous advertisements, in German.
- 1 set of 12 black-and-white photos (9x7 cm) in an envelope with various motifs from Linz and surroundings.

Vienna:

- Set of 23 black-and-white photos (9x7 cm) with various motifs from Vienna and Schönbrunn Palace.
- 2 color postcards (unwritten, unstamped).

Villach:

-1 flyer, 6 pages, 17 black-and-white photos of Villach and surroundings, in German.

Lienz:

1 flyer, 8 pages, 15 black-and-white photos of Lienz and surroundings, text in German, English, Italian and French.

Zell am See:

Flyer of the "Seehotel Zauner, Strandcafé" (6 pages, with color drawings, in French and Italian), inserted "Preistarif 1954".

Innsbruck:

- 1 flyer, 8 pages, 5 black-and-white photos of Innsbruck and surroundings in winter, text in English. Cleanly glued together along a crease with clear tape.
- 2 identical brochures, folded in the middle, 15 color photos of Innsbruck and surroundings, short texts in French.
- 1 city map with main sights, in French.
- 1 directory of accommodations with summer prices 1954, in German.
- 1 flyer of the "Hotel und Weinhaus zur Goldenen Rose", in German, with 5 black-and-white photos and a route map.
- 1 leporello with 16 black-and-white photos (9x7 cm) with various motifs from Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains.

Tyrol:

- 1 folded overview map of Tyrol, 8 pages, with place index and campsite index, in German, English and French.
- 1 multiple-folded flyer with 18 color drawings of children in traditional costumes (with place names) and 27 black-and-white photos, captions in German, English, French and Italian. Edges somewhat torn.
- 1 brochure of the "Grünwalderhof ob Igls" in Patsch near Innsbruck, with 9 black-and-white photos, texts and binding captions in German.
- 1 program flyer for an evening event "A Summer Day on a Tyrolean Alm" (no specific date), 4 pages with no photos or illustrations, in German, French and English.

Oberammergau:

- 12 black-and-white photos (9x6.5 cm) in an envelope with various motifs from Oberammergau and surroundings.
- 2 hotel flyers for the "Hotel Wolf" in Oberammergau, one in German and one in French.

The lot is held together by a folder (A4 size), exterior brown leather, interior brown fabric with (stretched) elastic bands. The folder shows obvious signs of wear.
