Art Deco wooden jewelry box dating to the 1940s–1950s, made in Germany from walnut with decorative veneers; the interior is fully lined in gold brocade with floral motifs, includes an integrated oval mirror and a functional original key, and measures 29 × 18 × 10 cm.
Description from the seller
Shipped only within the EU.
A unique jewelry box, made in the mid-20th century, fully finished with decorative veneers and highly refined geometric marquetry. The piece highlights a harmonious combination of noble essences, most likely European walnut for the dark areas, maple/sycamore for the light contrasting elements and figured walnut veneer for the central panel of the lid, framed by decorative light wood fillets.
The sides are decorated with a spectacular geometric diamond motif, made of contrasting veneers of lemon wood, boxwood and maple that give the object elegance and refinement. The lid features a symmetrical central panel, with a natural wood grain pattern, typical of quality figured veneers.
The interior is completely lined with gold brocade with floral motifs, being equipped with an oval mirror integrated into the lid and textile support ribbons, preserved in very good condition. The original decorative hardware completes the sophisticated appearance of the piece.
The box is equipped with a functional original key, the locking system being perfectly operational. It opens and closes correctly, without any play or structural deformations.
An elegant and at the same time useful decorative piece, representative of the art of European veneering and marquetry from the period 1940–1960, ideal for collectors, miniature furniture enthusiasts, vintage objects or for use as an elegant jewelry box.
Dimensions: 29 × 18 × 10 cm.
Condition: very good for its age, with discreet patina and minor signs of use consistent with age. The veneers, interior lining, mirror, hardware and key have been preserved in remarkable condition.
