Elegant and highly collectible Gorham / Durgin "Fairfax" Sterling Silver Flatware Service for 12, presented in its original fitted mahogany case with green velvet interior. This exceptional American sterling silver service includes an extensive assortment of dining, serving, dessert, and specialty pieces, making it suitable for both formal entertaining and serious collectors. The timeless Fairfax pattern, first introduced by Durgin and later produced by Gorham, remains one of the most sought-after Art Deco sterling silver designs.
The set contains 231 pieces with a total silver weight of approximately 209.28 troy ounces (excluding hollow-handle pieces). Included are dinner forks, luncheon forks, knives, salad forks, tablespoons, soup spoons, teaspoons, cocktail forks, serving utensils, poultry shears, butter spreaders, gold-washed fruit and ice cream spoons, and numerous specialty pieces. Presented in a fitted wooden chest with a locking drawer.
Condition
Very good antique condition overall.
Light surface scratches and signs of normal use consistent with age.
Some monograms present (not all matching).
Several youth and baby pieces show minor wear or damage.
Case remains structurally sound with age-related wear.
