Description from the seller

Very characterful antique oak captain’s chair / banker’s chair, probably originating from England and datable to the early 20th century.

The chair has a sculptural form with curved armrests, a spindled back, a shaped wooden seat and a central swivel mechanism with height adjustment. The oak has developed a deep, dark and richly layered patina, with signs of wear, scratches, discolorations and small damages that are an integral part of its appearance.

The chair has been restored and technically checked. It swivels smoothly, is height-adjustable and has a tilt/rock function. The construction is solid and the chair is suitable for normal use.

There is natural play/wobble present, fitting to the chair’s age and construction. This is not bothersome when seated normally, but of course it remains an antique piece of furniture and not a modern manufactured office chair.

A special piece of furniture for at a desk, in a studio, shop interior or as a standalone statement piece in the home.

Dimensions

Total height: 79–90 cm
Seat height: 40–51 cm
Width including armrests: 54 cm
Depth: 47 cm
Weight: approx. 20 kg
