Description from the seller

The Titanium Chronograph introduced in 1980 was the first wristwatch made of titanium. It’s hard to believe nowadays, given the abundance of titanium models, but at that time it was a big novelty. No one used titanium then: it was an expensive material, difficult to work with, and used exclusively in the aerospace industry. The engineers at IWC accepted the challenge and developed new techniques for processing this exotic material; they thus managed to realize Porsche Design's vision, which aimed for a chronograph with a refined and minimalist look.

The watch was not only an innovation in terms of materials. The pushers were also integrated superbly (in a design still used today in the Porsche Design Monobloc Actuator series) and the titanium bracelet was perfectly in tune with the watch’s aesthetics. This watch made the collaboration between Porsche Design and IWC public once and for all, erasing any doubt about the excellent competence of both companies. On the first series the Porsche Design logo is not present.
Diameter of the case: 42 mm. Sapphire crystal. Screwed-down case back. Automatic movement, Day-Date function, and chronograph. Bracelet length: 17 cm. Insured and trackable shipping.
