Description from the seller

Set of three beautiful vintage collector’s pieces, reviewed by qualified technicians and working very well for their age, consisting of a Studer A700 reel-to-reel tape recorder, an A720 preamplifier, and an A722 power amplifier, plus extras: two Revox reels, one with new tape recorded in Revox cases, two Nab’s Revox, two Philips interconnection cables, four original Studer A-700 booklets, and two speaker cables.

Marks of age inherent wear (see photos)

The Studer Revox A700 is a high-end reel-to-reel tape recorder, manufactured between 1973 and 1982, known for integrating professional-grade components in a sophisticated domestic design.

Audio and Performance Specifications;
According to the service manual and ReelToReel data, the device offers:
Tape speeds: 3.75 ips (9.5 cm/s), 7.5 ips (19 cm/s), and 15 ips (38 cm/s).
Frequency response (at 15 ips): 30 Hz to 22,000 Hz (+2/-3 dB).
Signal-to-noise ratio: 65 dB (at 15 ips) and 66 dB (at 7.5 ips).
Wow and flutter: 0.06% at 15 ips; 0.08% at 7.5 ips.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): 0.6%.

Mechanism and Components
The system uses a servo-controlled three-motor AC configuration, with a quartz clock to stabilize the capstan motor speed.

Heads: 3 heads (erase, record, playback).
Reel size: Supports reels up to 10.5 inches (26.5 cm).
Semiconductors: Extensively uses integrated circuits (16 to 19 ICs, depending on revision), 2 LSI chips and more than 90 transistors.
Equalization: NAB standard (some variants IEC).

Dimensions and Construction
As listed by Premium-Hifi and audioG, the unit has the following physical characteristics:
Dimensions: Approximately 48.3 cm wide, 46.2 cm high, and 17.5 cm to 22.5 cm deep.
Weight: About 24 kg.
Power: 110V to 240V selectable, with 130 W consumption.
Versatility: Can be operated in horizontal, vertical, or tilted position.

Inputs and Outputs
Inputs: 2 microphones (0.15 mV), Phono (2.5 mV), Radio (3 mV) and 2 Aux (40 mV).
Outputs: Line (1.55 V), DIN (0.775 V) and headphone output (max. 4.9 V).

Revox Digital FM Tuner Preamplifier A 720.
Operation is perfect. It has been fully serviced.

Specifications:
Frequency response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz
Total harmonic distortion: 0.005%
Input sensitivity: 3 mV (MM), 100 mV (line)
Signal-to-noise ratio: 65 dB (MM), 85 dB (line)
Output: 200 mV (line), 1.5 V (pre-out)
Semiconductors: 37 x ICs, 41 x transistors, 63 x diodes
Dimensions: 483 x 151 x 328 mm
Weight: 12 kg

The Revox A722 is a classic hi-fi power amplifier, manufactured between 1973 and 1977 by Willi Studer in Switzerland and the Black Forest.

REVOX A722 STEREO POWER AMPLIFIER
Condition;
Technically pristine
Fully functional
Excellent condition (see photo)

Technical specifications:
Manufacturer: Revox
Model: A 722
Type: Power amplifier
Years of manufacture: 1974 - 1980
Made in Switzerland

Power (RMS): 2 x 60 W into 4 ohms / 2 x 45 W into 8 ohms
Music power: 2 x 90 W into 4 ohms
Damping factor: > 40 (into 4 ohms)
Frequency response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz (+/- 1 dB)
Total harmonic distortion: < 0.1% (up to nominal power)
Sensitivity: 1.55 V (+6 dBu) for maximum power
Weight: approx. 8.5 kg
Dimensions (W x H x D): 318 x 150 x 241 mm

2. FUNCTIONS

Power limiter: Limits output power to 20% or 50% to protect the speakers.
Remote operation: Remote power control via Series 700 control cables (e.g., A720).
Protection: Turn-on delay and thermal overload protection.
Indicators: “Power” and “Overload” indicator lights.

It was designed as the perfect companion to the legendary Series 700 – especially for the digital tuner preamplifier A720 and the A700 tape recorder.
To this day, it is regarded as an excellent example of Swiss precision engineering: exceptionally durable, easy to repair, and sonically neutral.
Power Limitation: Output power can be reduced to 20% or 50% via front panel buttons – a clever protection for smaller or sensitive speakers.
Protection Circuits: The amplifier features a turn-on delay (to avoid popping in speakers) and electronic overload protection.
Cooling: It has a temperature-controlled fan, which, however, is almost never activated in normal home use.
