Description from the seller
Beautiful, very large XXL shell with a light coloration Charonia Tritonis- colloquial name Triton's trumpet or giant triton is a species of a very large sea snail, a marine mollusk from the family Charoniidae, the tritons. It is one of the largest mollusks on a coral reef. The shell is thick and heavy, strongly spiraled into the shape of an elongated tower. Ending sharply at the summit, it gradually broadens toward the aperture.
Strongly ribbed, with distinct spiral ribs and nodules. The color of the shell is most often yellowish, creamy or brown with irregular, darker spots and stripes. The aperture (shell opening) is large, wide, oval.
The interior is smooth, often orange, pink or red-brown, contrasting with the outer surface of the shell. The outer lip is thick, sometimes wavy, often with delicate dentitions.
Special features - due to its large size and distinctive structure it has been used in many cultures as a wind instrument (shell trumpet).
It is valued by collectors and has significance in art and rituals. Dimensions - 135×190×360 mm. I highly recommend it to collectors and interior decorators.
