Large Decorative Feather Fan with Hand-Painted Bird Motif

Elegant decorative hand fan dating from the first half of the 20th century, featuring a gauze leaf hand-painted with birds in flight and flowering branches. The fan is richly trimmed with white feathers accented by darker feather tips, creating a striking visual effect.

The wooden sticks are finely pierced and decorated with silver-coloured floral and scroll motifs. The reverse displays attractive carved openwork guards highlighting the natural grain of the wood. Its generous size and decorative appearance make it an appealing display piece.

Fair to good condition consistent with age. Structurally sound and complete, with all sticks present. The painted decoration remains visible. There is age-related wear, staining and discolouration to the gauze leaf, as well as wear and minor losses to the feather trim. Overall, the fan retains good decorative appeal.
