Beautiful and ancient Yoruba mask from Nigeria. It represents a ram. It is an emblematic animal of Yoruba power (along with the leopard). This work is inhabited and alive. The artist who made it knew how to give it life. Its gaze is piercing and captivating. It bears an impassive, focused, and determined expression. The sculpture is fine, the volumes are harmonious; it is a success. Nice dry patina of use. Some flaws, sold as seen, see photos. A beautiful piece of old, authentic collection. Circa 1950.
