Theatre binoculars made from natural mother-of-pearl and brass – Belle Époque – France/Germany, c. 1880–1915

Elegant theatre binoculars from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, fashioned from brass and natural mother-of-pearl with a beautiful, subtle iridescence.

The item represents high-class European craftsmanship of the Belle Époque period. The body is adorned with panels of natural mother-of-pearl, whose pearlescent sheen contrasts beautifully with the warm hue of the brass construction. The model is equipped with a central focus adjustment mechanism, which remains functional and operates smoothly.

The binoculars retain a complete set of original lenses and detachable objective rings. The condition is very good for an item of its age. The mother of pearl shows no damage or loss. Only minor signs of use are visible, including minimal scratches and localized wear to the original gilding on metal components, consistent with age and normal use.
