Albert Oehlen was born in 1954 in Krefeld, Germany. A graduate of the Hochschule für Bildende Kunst in Hamburg in 1978, he has been known since the early 1980s and began exhibiting worldwide. Influenced by Georg Baselitz, Sigmar Polke and Gerhard Richter, Oehlen's work focuses on the creative process, exposing the constitutive elements of painting. He lives in Switzerland. In his lifetime, he ranked among the nine German artists listed in the top 100 global sales."
