Description from the seller
It is a 19th-century candelabrum that concentrates all the period's ornamental theatricality, crowned by a cherub figure that lends it an almost allegorical air. The base is solid, stepped, with moldings and striations that rise like a small architectural pedestal. On it stands the orb, worked with reliefs and decorative motifs, functioning as a symbolic and visual support for the figure.
The cherub, seated naturally on the sphere, is modeled with a very fine level of detail: wings open with clearly marked feathers, sweet gesture, robes falling in soft folds. That mix of innocence and dynamism is typical of the decorative imagery of the 19th century, heir to the Baroque but reinterpretated with a more romantic touch.
The upper part, where the candlestick or ornamental terminal would originally rise, is missing, leaving visible the anchoring point. Even so, the piece maintains its aesthetic balance: the bronze, with its warm patina, enhances the volumes and gives depth to each relief.
Overall, it is a candelabrum that combines symbolism, sculptural grace and a very marked decorative presence, even incomplete, because the cherub figure dominates the composition and makes the piece full of character.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
