Description from the seller

Liturgical Embroidery in Gold and Silver Threads – Chalice Cover – 18th Century

Refined chalice cover (chalice lid) of Italian ecclesiastical manufacture from the 18th century, made in yellow gold silk and enriched by a rich ornamental arrangement hand-embroidered with gold and silver metallic threads.
The piece features an elegant ornamental composition, developed around a stylized cruciform central motif, surrounded by volutes, floral elements and geometric decorations. The peripheral frame consists of an elaborate interwoven motif executed with metallic threads and gilt thread, evidence of the high quality of the craftsmanship.
Particularly fascinating is the color contrast between the golden silk background and the silver-embroidered inserts, further enhanced by small multicolored details in blue and red tones, still clearly visible despite the passage of centuries.
Objects of this type were used during the Eucharistic celebration to cover the chalice and were part of the most precious liturgical aids destined for altars, private chapels and important religious institutions.
The execution techniques, the quality of the materials and the decorative design allow for a dating to the 18th century.
Dimensions: about 25.5 x 25.5 cm. Thickness: about 0.8 cm.
The condition is good and consistent with the age. Normal signs of time, light wear, marginal fraying and small corner sags are present, elements that do not compromise the historical charm of the artifact and attest to its authenticity.
Our interior designer/architect recommends: ideal for display in a museum frame, included in a sacred art collection, or used as a striking decorative element inside study rooms, libraries and historic houses.

The photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to professionals in the field.
