Item Description
Victor A-X1000 Stereo Integrated Amplifier — Dynamic Super-A & Full Gm Circuit (Made in Japan, c.1984)
Presented here is the Victor A-X1000, a flagship stereo integrated amplifier manufactured by Victor Company of Japan (JVC), released circa 1984 at an original retail price of ¥129,000. This is a Japan-domestic model and represents the pinnacle of Victor's amplifier engineering of the era.
The A-X1000 is built around Victor's proprietary "Dynamic Super-A" topology combined with a full-stage "Gm Circuit" (voltage-to-current conversion amplification), applied across every signal path — from the phono equalizer stage through to the power amplifier output. The Gm Volume, Gm Selector, and Gm Driver together suppress residual noise and distortion at the actual listening volume by an impressive 10 to 25 dB compared to conventional designs.
The power amplifier section delivers a substantial 200W + 200W into 6Ω (20Hz–20kHz, THD 0.005%) and 170W + 170W into 8Ω, driven by a massive 420VA toroidal-style power transformer and 22,000μF filter capacitors. Switching distortion is eliminated entirely, and TIM distortion is measured at zero. The power transistors are shielded with copper plates to minimize electromagnetic interference.
Input connectivity is comprehensive: MM/MC phono (with a high-performance Gm Equalizer supporting both NF and CR topologies simultaneously), DAD (digital audio disc / CD), Tuner, AUX, and three tape decks including a Tape-3 system expansion bay. Dual speaker outputs (A and B) are provided, with a separate Mode control for Reverse, Normal, L+R, Mono, L only, and R only configurations.
The chassis is beautifully crafted with a thick brushed black aluminum faceplate featuring gold-engraved lettering, flanked by deep rosewood-finish side panels finished through a meticulous 21-stage lacquering process. Four solid brass feet complete the luxurious presentation. This is a high-mass, high-quality piece of vintage Japanese hi-fi that both performs and looks exceptional.
Serial No.: 15901909
Power: AC 100V, 50/60Hz, 310W (Japanese standard — step-down transformer required for 220–240V regions)
Size
Height: 18 cm
Width: 47.5 cm
Depth: 41 cm
Weight
18,000 g / 18 kg
Condition
The unit has been confirmed to power on. Audio output has been tested via the AUX input using the Speaker 1 output, and sound was confirmed from the speakers. There is some crackling noise when turning the volume knob, but audio output itself has been confirmed. Other functions have not been fully tested, so the unit is sold as-is. There is some light surface wear and residue from a removed sticker, consistent with age and storage. The rosewood-finish side panels and aluminum faceplate are overall well-preserved.
