Fifteen-piece Richard-Ginori porcelain service in white with polychrome enamels and sovereign-gold detailing, from Italy, dating to 1950–1960, model Forma Bavaria, including a coffee pot, a lidded sugar pot, a creamer, six cups and six saucers, all bearing the brown factory shield and gold Richard Ginori mark.
Description from the seller
Manifattura Richard-Ginori, mid-20th century
White porcelain with decoration in polychrome enamel and gilt gold.
Under the base of the pieces is impressed the factory mark: the brown shield with cartouche "FORMA BAVARIA" surmounted by a stylized crown, and the gold mark below it reading "RICHARD GINORI" with three stars.
Composed of 15 pieces:
1 Coffee pot/Teapot with lid
1 Sugar bowl with lid and two side handles
1 Milk jug
6 Cups
6 Saucers
Dimensions: Coffee pot height approx. 21.5 cm; sugar bowl height approx. 13 cm; milk jug height approx. 11.5 cm.
Condition: Excellent overall condition; gilding perfectly blazing and free of significant wear.
The service presented here constitutes a splendid and virtuosic testimony of the Tuscan manufactory Richard-Ginori, executed on the famous model known as "Forma Bavaria". This specific shape fuses the plasticity of Central European ceramic tradition with the usual lightness and purity of Doccia porcelain.
The decorative setting stands out for a striking color contrast with undeniable collectible charm. The upper part of the necks, feet, and undersides of the saucers are entirely clad in a dazzling imperial green band, outlined by a gold exergue with ornamental stylized shells and foliate swirls. The handles and pouring rims of the service pieces are fully mirror-gilded, giving the set considerable splendor.
The central body, left in the whiteness of the porcelain, hosts a refined decoration of sprigs of wildflowers and botanical arrangements ("Mazzo Ginori" or Deutsche Blumen), painted with a rich palette ranging from deep purple to cobalt blue, from cadmium orange to sulfur yellow. The decorative orchestration is happily repeated with charming miniature variants also inside the hollow of the cups.
