John Afflick, born 1967, is an award winning British artist based in Liverpool, England. His artwork is significantly sought after and is held in numerous private collections worldwide. Notable examples of his work are nine large oil panels on permanent display in the Church Of The Holy Innocents, Hammersmith, London. 'Humilitas' is a typical example of his work and explores his interest in human emotions and spirituality. Signed, numbered and titled in pencil at the bottom edge of the image. Giclee print on exceptional quality conservation paper, with the additional collectors appeal of it being the first print of a very limited run. 'Humilitass' was inspired by the medieval allegory 'Psychomachia' by the Latin poet Prudentius. The poem describes the conflict of the vices and virtues in a battle to control the soul. John Afflick produced 'The Virtues' collection, a highly successful series of seven paintings each representing one of the Heavenly Virtues. 'Humilitass', is the personification of humility, modesty and selflessness.
