Description from the seller
Set of 11 crystal wine glasses in light, sonorous crystal, transparent, mouth-blown, characterized by refined workmanship and decorations rich in details. The cup features a trumpet or open tulip-shaped bowl, an optical effect that helps reflect light. The central part of the bowl is embellished with an intricate engraving (probably done acid-etched or with a diamond grind). The motif depicts a series of decorative arches topped by stylized lilies and small flowers, with a honeycomb or scale-like pattern (reminiscent of a pine cone or a geometric surface) filling the lower part of the design. The stem is smooth, solid, slender, and slightly tapered upward and downward, cleanly joining the flat circular base. The period suggests a dating in the first half of the 20th century, more precisely between the late 1920s and the 1930s. This clean yet richly engraved style is typical of the era including Art Deco. The shape of the goblet and the type of engraving strongly recall the productions of the famous prestigious manufactories of Empoli glassworks (Florence), model Oasis. A very luxurious service. It could have been a ceremonial service, a wedding gift for an important family, or an exclusive customized line for a grand hotel, a private club, or a noble house. Size: height 14.4 x diameter 9 cm.
