In an auction, a true collectible masterpiece, highly sought after and elegant: the Sunflower Barbie (Barbie Girasole), distributed by Mattel in 1998. This model is a prized Limited Edition and represents the second chapter of the celebrated Artist Series, an exclusive collection in which Mattel designers reinterpret the essence of the paintings by the greatest painters in history through high fashion.
The doll is a living tribute to the famed series of Sunflower paintings by Vincent van Gogh. She wears a breathtaking evening gown that recreates the flower's very structure: the off-the-shoulder bodice is made of black-brown velvet enriched with sparkling sequins echoing the center rich with seeds of the sunflower. The waist is surrounded by three-dimensional petals in satin and metallic fabrics in gold, ochre and orange tones, interspersed with green leaves. The full and sumptuous skirt in yellow satin faithfully reproduces the soft brushstrokes typical of the Dutch artist's post-impressionist style. The brown, thick, curly hair is styled in a voluminous updo decorated with leaves and climbing sunflowers.

Doll: In absolutely perfect and impeccable condition. The item is NRFB (Never Removed From Box). The doll has never been removed from its inner packaging (IMG_6981.jpg), which features a deep blue, textured background reminiscent of the skies painted by Van Gogh, creating a wonderful color contrast with the yellow of the dress.
Box: This special edition comes with a refined outer protective carton (slipcase) that opens like a book, front decorated with an artistic print of the famous sunflowers (IMG_6973.jpg). The side profiles and the back, enriched by the artist’s biography and the description of the genesis of the work in Arles, are in overall excellent condition (IMG_6974.jpg, IMG_6975.jpg, IMG_6976.jpg). Only minimal and normal signs of time or very light shelf wear on the edges and corners of the outer box are noted (IMG_6978.jpg, IMG_6979.jpg), absolutely normal for an object nearly thirty years old. No stickers or tears present.
