Description from the seller
These two charming little three-legged stools exude the atmosphere of artisanal craftsmanship from the post-war period. Each piece is handmade from solid oak and bears the unmistakable traits of a folk design inspired by Wabi-Sabi and Brutalism that emerged in the 1950s–1960s as a reaction to mass production.
The first stool stands out with its organically shaped, kidney-shaped seat in dark-stained wood, carried by three slim cylindrical legs that flare slightly for stability. The simplicity and biomorphic silhouette evoke the work of Charlotte Perriand or early Scandinavian Brutalism. It sits comfortably at a height of 36 cm, with a seat measuring approximately 28 by 19 cm.
The second stool has a more rectangular, chamfered seat in lighter oak with beautifully visible grain and four round wooden plugs that mark the connections of the outward-tilting legs — an honest, constructive detail that emphasizes the hand-made nature. The height is 35 cm, the seat about 24 by 21 cm.
Both stools stand solidly and are in structurally good condition. They show the honest signs of decades of daily use — a patina that makes them so attractive to lovers of authentic vintage and rustic interiors. Ideal as a plant stand, side table, or decorative accent in a wabi-sabi, Japandi, or brocante interior.
