Six identical dining chairs from the Dutch Louis XVI period, circa 1780–1800, in solid ash wood with flower rosette details and open back, each 91.5 cm high, 50 cm wide and deep, seating height 47.5 cm, in used unrestored condition and originating from the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
A set of six identical (dining) chairs manufactured during the Dutch Louis XVI period around 1780-1800. Such chairs have long been in fashion, especially in the Northern Provinces they were produced well into the first quarter of the 19th century.
The chairs are completely constructed from solid elm wood with the beautiful characteristic grain/flame pattern (see close-up) and the typical warm gold-orange to honey color. The chairs are built using pegged mortise-and-tenon joints. The so-called "houses" where the mortise-and-tenon joints meet are decorated with a pierced flower rosette. The backrest is simple yet elegantly openworked. The square, tapering front legs are fluted and tapering.
The entire set is in used, unrestored condition, with old repairs and in need of attention to the construction, finish and upholstery!
The photos, in addition to the extensive description, form part of the listing. If you have any questions before you wish to bid, please contact the auctioneer/expert.
For shipping the piece will be carefully packed with bubble wrap, sturdy thick cardboard and/or floor mat, stretch wrap, and placed on a EUR pallet with at least two straps! Please note that delivery is performed by one man/driver and delivered to the door! If you have delivery preferences, live on an island, etc., please contact us.
Upon receipt, take photos of the packaging to rule out damage during transport.
