Description from the seller
Carafe / decanter in crystal and silver-plated metal, Italy, 1940s
Elegant service carafe in milled crystal and silver-plated metal, attributable to Italian production of the 1940s. In form, proportions and construction type, the object is plausibly interpretable as a carafe for absinthe or a pourer for absinthe, intended for a refined and scenographic service.
The body in transparent crystal features a vertical ribbed workmanship, with a slender and harmonious profile, capable of catching light with pleasant reflections and play of translucency. The lower part, more structured, provides visual stability to the whole, while the central band lightens the silhouette and enhances the elegance of the crystal.
The upper part is made of silver-plated metal, with a domed lid, small decorative knob, side spout and linear-embossed bands. The side handle is particularly cinematic, wide and curved, embellished with a grooved decoration that gives the object a classic and aristocratic taste.
The ensemble evokes the charm of mid-century elegant dining tables, between liquor service, drinking ritual and collectible objects destined to adorn a sideboard, a display cabinet or an old-fashioned bar corner. The carafe retains a strong decorative presence and can be valued both as a functional service piece and as a refined display object.
Era: circa 1940s
Origin: Italy
Materials: crystal and silver-plated metal
Height: 28 cm
Width: 14 cm
Depth: 10 cm
