Silver 100 Korun commemorative coin issued on the occasion of the centenary of the death of Czech painter Josef Mánes (1820-1871), one of the most prominent figures of 19th-century Czech national art. The obverse features an expressive profile portrait of the artist, with strong sculptural presence and excellent modeling, accompanied by his name and the commemorative dates 1871-1971. The reverse shows the coat of arms of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic with the crowned rampant lion and the five-pointed star, accompanied by the denomination and the official name of the State. The piece remains in magnificent condition, with fully defined reliefs, clean fields and abundant original mint luster, qualities in line with the MS64 grade awarded by NGC. This issue is part of the socialist Czechoslovakia commemorative coin program dedicated to prominent figures in the country’s history and culture, constituting a distinguished tribute to one of the leading representatives of Czech Romanticism.
