Description from the seller
A retractable wall coat rack from the 60s/70s in chrome metal, an emblematic piece of the era's industrial and modernist design.
It consists of 5 movable arms (or hooks) topped with cream-colored plastic balls.
Its clever, compact mechanism allows it to unfold into a fan to hang clothes or hats, or to retract completely upward along the wall for maximum space savings.
The lower metal base bears the engraved inscription "SERJAC" with a stylized logo representing the object in a fan, as well as the designation "BTE SGDG" (Breveté Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement), confirming its authenticity and French manufacture of the period.
Chrome steel structure and spherical ends in rigid cream-colored plastic (pool-ball style).
The item is fully functional; the fan-opening/closing mechanism works perfectly.
Nice overall vintage condition. The chrome shows an authentic patina with light pitting and surface oxidation traces due to time, which gives it its retro charm. The cream spheres are well preserved and firmly attached.
Ideal for adding a Mid-Century Modern or industrial touch to an entryway, a bathroom, or a bedroom. A piece that is at once utilitarian, graphic, and highly nostalgic.
