Hala Zeist desk lamp from the 1950s–1960s with a black enamel shade, chrome flexible gooseneck and cast base, metal construction, 58 cm high, 10 cm wide and 10 cm deep, in good condition with a dent to the shade and paint loss around a ventilation aperture, and in working order.
Description from the seller
A compelling example of post-war Dutch industrial design, this Hala Zeist desk lamp embodies the functional elegance for which the celebrated Dutch manufacturer became renowned. Distinguished by its black enamelled shade, flexible chrome gooseneck stem, and organic cast base crow feet, the lamp strikes a balance between utility and refined modernist form.
Presented in fair, honest vintage condition consistent with age and use. The lamp remains in working order and displays attractively overall.
Notable imperfections include:
- A visible dent to the shade (hood)
- Localised paint loss and chipping surrounding one of the ventilation apertures.
- General signs of age, handling and wear commensurate with over seventy years of service.
Designed during a period when European lighting embraced both innovation and restraint, the piece retains the timeless aesthetic that has made Hala Zeist a favourite among collectors of mid-century design. The adjustable neck allows for directional lighting, while the black finish and pale interior shade enhance both visual appeal and practical illumination.
