Description from the seller

Not your doll - 20 (n.686)
The measurements are:
- collage: 40.00 x 30.00 cm
- collage + frame: 46.70 cm x 36.70 cm; thickness 2.50 cm
Acrylic painting on shredded paper stretched on canvas
Framed; ready to be hung

It is a collage made with acrylic paints and many small everyday paper pieces that, instead of ending up in a landfill, I recycle to create paintings.

On these little pieces of paper you can read scattered words and phrases here and there.

This often happens when we approach another person closely: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not.

The work is sold framed and ready to be hung thanks to the hook on the back.

The surface features small reliefs and I enjoy caressing it, feeling it...
I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy finish and protects the colors from sunlight and dust.

Born in 1974, I am self-taught.

After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long halt of almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the “two dimensions” for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.

I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I’ve been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real.

For me, painting is about “freezing time” at that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are “worn, eroded by time.” Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are wall corners also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface.
The passing of time is the main theme of my works.

Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I adore sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are easily perceivable by touch and to the naked eye.

In this recent period, after several years during which my works were made from pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden disks arranged in lines and repeated grids with mathematical precision that, when viewed up close, seem to form an abstract, colorful painting, but the farther you go, the more a portrait of many painted wooden disks emerges.

Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they don’t have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner’s dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, be victims of violence.
