Chinese Export Famille Rose Octagonal Charger – Yongzheng Period (1723–1735) An impressive large Chinese Export Famille Rose octagonal charger dating to the Yongzheng period (1723–1735). The centre is finely decorated with elegant flowering branches featuring peony blossoms and other seasonal flowers, symbolising prosperity and beauty. The broad octagonal rim is richly ornamented with intricate iron-red spiral scrollwork, floral sprays and quatrefoil cartouches, displaying the refined and delicate enamel palette that characterises Yongzheng export porcelain produced for the European market. Measuring an impressive 36 cm in diameter, this charger was intended as an important decorative and dining piece for wealthy European households during the early eighteenth century. Condition: The charger has visible old restorations with traditional metal staple (riveted) repairs, together with several associated hairlines and age-related wear.
