Valerio Adami is one of the great figures of European contemporary painting in the second half of the 20th century. A major artist of the New Figuration, he developed a instantly recognizable pictorial language, based on strong black outlines and fields of bright colors, where literature, philosophy, history and memory intersect.

Throughout his career, he has mingled with and engaged with some of the greatest intellectual and artistic personalities of his time, including Jacques Derrida, Italo Calvino, Octavio Paz, Luciano Berio and Carlos Fuentes. His work is today present in the most prestigious public and private collections around the world, making him an indispensable artist in the history of contemporary art.
