Description from the seller
Beautiful, very large XXL shell with light coloration, Charonia Tritonis - colloquial name Trumpet Triton or giant Triton, is a species of a very large marine snail, a mollusk snail from the family Charoniidae, of the tritons. It is one of the largest mollusks on the coral reef. The shell is thick and heavy, tightly spiraled into the shape of an elongated tower. Ending sharply at the apex, it gradually widens toward the aperture.
Strongly ribbed, with pronounced spiral ribs and knobs. The color of the shell is most often yellowish, creamy, or brown with irregular, darker spots and striations. The aperture (shell opening) is large, wide, oval.
The interior is smooth, often orange, pink, or reddish-brown, contrasting with the outer surface of the shell. The outer lip is thick, sometimes wavy, often with delicate serrations.
Special features - due to its large size and distinctive structure it has been used in many cultures as a wind instrument (shell trumpet).
It is valued by collectors and has significance in art and rituals. Dimensions - 135×205×380 mm. I highly recommend it to collectors and interior decorators.
