Nested weights of the “Pile de Charlemagne” type or “Bechergewicht” made in cast bronze and composed of seven interlocking weights that are stored inside a container box with hinged lid and original closure. Each of the weights bears control marks and punches on the base, corresponding to metrological verification systems used to guarantee the accuracy of the set.
This type of sets were used by European merchants, apothecaries and traders for the precise weighing of goods. Its design allowed carrying a wide range of weights in a compact and protected format.
