Description from the seller
Mid-Century Modern stool / ottomans – solid oak & brass details (circa 1960-1965)
Very special, unique Mid-Century Modern stool / ottoman, crafted from solid oak with original brass foot caps and high-quality upholstery.
This little chair is characterized by its elegant architectural form, lightly tapered legs, organic cutouts in the base, and superior finish. The design closely aligns with the Dutch design tradition of the sixties and strongly evokes the work of Fristho.
According to the previous owner, a former employee of Hilton Amsterdam, these stools originate from the hotel interior.
The provenance also includes an old interior photograph showing several identical pieces as part of a larger installation. Official documentation is absent, but the provenance supports the alleged hotel origin.
The combination of solid oak, brass details, the exceptional build quality, and the fact that these stools were part of a larger series of nine identical pieces makes this a particularly attractive ensemble for collectors, architects, project designers, and connoisseurs of Dutch design.
