Napoleon III era mantel clock with a white marble base and patinated bronze sculpture, circa 1850–1860, in bronze and marble with a mechanical movement, 8-day power reserve, and half-hour strike on a bell, in good used condition and complete with winding key; height 43 cm, width 35 cm, depth 15 cm, weight 12 kg, made in France.

Impressive Napoleon III period mantel clock (c. 1850-1860) of large dimensions. It comprises a massive white marble base, richly ornate with gilded bronze appliques and resting on turned feet. The upper part is crowned by a large patinated bronze sculpture depicting a classical allegory. This piece stands out for its high technical and historical value, bearing the dual signature of the renowned manufacturer Japy Frères and the prestigious clockmaker Constantin-Louis Detouche, Official Supplier to Emperor Napoleon III. The overall condition is exceptional, complete, functional and accompanied by its original winding key.

Clockmaker / Workshop: Constantin-Louis Detouche (228-230 Rue St. Martin, Paris) – Clockmaker to the City of Paris and Supplier to His Majesty the Emperor.
Movement manufacturer (blank): Japy Frères (Movement stamped "Médailles d'Or", post-1849).
Serial number: 14627 (stamped on the back of the movement, in perfect conformity with the dial).
Pendulum-regulated movement, anchor escapement, striking the hours and quarters on a bell, with reference to the S.G.D.G. patent
