Bronze 1 Pfennig coin minted at the Hannover mint (mint mark B) during the reign of George V, the last king of the Kingdom of Hanover. The obverse presents the crowned monogram of the monarch, executed with an elegant heraldic-style design and ornamental lines characteristic of mid-19th-century German issues. The reverse shows the face value, the issue date and the inscription KÖNIG V. HANNOVER, in a sober and balanced composition intended for everyday circulation. The specimen preserves an attractive original brown color corresponding to the BN designation, with well-defined relief, homogeneous fields and traces of mint lustre, qualities in line with the MS61 BN grade awarded by NGC. This issue belongs to the late years of the Kingdom of Hanover’s existence as an independent state, a few years before its annexation by Prussia in 1866 following the Austro-Prussian War.
