Roman glass cruche from the 3rd–4th century AD, in green glass with iridescence, 9.4 cm high (12.8 cm with support) and 5.8 cm wide, in good condition and acquired from a Galerie/Antiquaire in France in 2026.
Description from the seller
Roman glass jug
Globular-bodied pitcher resting on a concave base, topped by a tall neck ending in a funnel-shaped lip. An elegant handle rises from the shoulder to join the neck
Green glass.
This pouring vessel probably belonged to a table service.
Nice iridescence. The glass is partially covered by an iridescent layer, formed through oxidation over the centuries.
Roman period, 3rd/4th century AD
Dimensions: height 9.4 cm (12.8 cm high with the support) x width 5.8 cm.
Excellent condition, no restoration
Provenance: France, G.L.N. gallery
