Description from the seller
Two ancient molds for puddings, aspic, and gelatin, made of heavy copper, dating from the 19th century (the Victorian era). In the haute cuisine of the 1800s, these molds were used to create spectacular geometric and scenographic presentations of spoon desserts or savory gelatin dishes.
Design details: The left mold shows a geometric motif of points and stars with a raised central flower. The right mold features a classic vertical ribbed structure topped by small dome protrusions (often called “bullet-style” decorations).
Material: They are forged solid copper molds. Originally, the interior was entirely lined with a layer of tin (tinning) to prevent direct contact between food and copper, avoiding toxic reactions with acidic foods.
Current use: Since the internal tinning tends to wear away or oxidize over time, today these objects are collected mainly as valuable antique items and used as rustic wall decorations in the kitchen.
