Stunning historic commemorative bronze medal, signed J.P. Legastelois, dedicated to Georges Clemenceau, “the Father of Victory.”
Description:
Avers: Portrait of Georges Clemenceau in a three-quarter bust to the right, with the circular inscription “GEORGES CLEMENCEAU.” Signed “J.P. LEGASTELOIS” at the bottom.
Revers: Clemenceau standing, reviewing troops; inscription “LE JOUR DE GLOIRE EST ARRIVÉ / 11 9BRE 1918.”
Metal: Bronze
Diameter: 68 mm (6.8 cm)
Thickness: 8 mm
Weight: about 178 g
Edge: Smooth with the hallmark “Bronze” (cornucopia)
Condition: Perfect condition (SUP+ / Fleur de coin). Beautiful homogeneous original brown patina, no nicks, no wear, crisp reliefs and very well-preserved details. Museum-quality collectible piece.
