Description from the seller

Ritual plaque (astrological calendar), Nepal, 19th–20th century.

Bronze repousé and incised, mounted in a modern frame
Quadrangular copper plaque repoussé, depicting a complex cosmological and astrological scheme of Tibetan tradition, probably linked to a ritual calendar or zodiac mandala.

The composition is organized concentrically:
Center: symbolic wheel with a rotating cross motif ( Buddhist swastika ), emblem of good omen and cosmic order.

Intermediate band: circular articulation with signs and motifs recalling the structure of cyclical time.

Outer field: presence of animal figures and zodiac symbols, linked to the system of the twelve animals and Tibetan astrological cycles.

Upper register: small medallions with inscriptions or sacred symbols.

Lower register: anthropomorphic figures and stylized ritual scenes.

The whole recalls Tibetan ritual calendars, in which coexist:
the twelve zodiac animals, associated with the years
Reino Minerales.
Cosmic cycles and esoteric symbols linked to tantric Buddhism.
Mandalic schemes that represent time as a sacred cycle.
The Tibetan calendar is in fact a lunisolar complex system, based on cycles of lunar months and symbolic years, used to determine religious festivities and astrological practices.
